CHC Graduate Helps Launch Halftime in Australia
A Harvard-MetLife study reveals that more than half of us who reach middle age want more meaning and significance in the second half of our lives.
Well, a CHC graduate now helps lead the Australian entity of Halftime, a business ministry based on the highly successful ministry of US-based Bob Buford. Halftime aims to engage successful business leaders, owners and executives to reflect on where they are going… and why.
Seven years ago, Geoff Wass was running his hi-tech laser-cutting business while studying Business at Christian Heritage College. During this period, Geoff’s business literally doubled its revenue and profits soared. This was a remarkable result, given that Geoff invested no additional funds or human resources into the business during that period.
Geoff attributes much of his success to the business skills he learned at CHC. “Once I completed my studies, I totally re-engineered my business, largely as a result of the knowledge I gained at CHC,” he said.
So successful was his invigorated business that in 2005 he was approached by a publicly-listed company that subsequently bought the business. Over the following four years, Geoff stayed on with the Corporation in the role of Business Improvement Manager and worked on a wide variety of projects across Australia.
In September last year, he left to start his own management consultancy. Appropriately trading under the business name “WASSNEXT”, Geoff Wass now specialises in providing consultancy for business systems projects, project management, change management and IT management.
His time at CHC not only helped Geoff to greater business success, it changed his life on many levels.
“Before 2000, I wasn’t even a Christian,” he explains. “Once I became a Christian, I explored options for transferring my children to Christian Outreach College (now Citipointe Christian College), and that’s when I first became aware of the existence of Christian Heritage College.”
Geoff, who had previous engineering qualifications, said it ‘just made sense’ to further his business studies at CHC because of its Christian world-view.
CHC’s unique Christian focus also inspired Geoff to take on a remarkable new life challenge. “The reason I’ve now moved into consultancy is that it allows me to pursue my other passion: helping business owners and executives to discover and lead a life of significance.”
Halftime will be launched nationally in July.
