Dr Brian Millis Building
On Friday the 17th of June, The Dr Brian Millis Building was opened at Citipointe Christian College. Named after CHC’s founder and principal, Brian was also Principal of Christian Outreach College Brisbane, as it was formally known, from 1981 to 1985.
In his speech, Brian spoke about his sense of the ‘call of God to Christian education’. A call that had taken him by surprise as it had come out of his obedience, rather than a strong desire to fulfil a role he was asked to perform. This obedience and subsequent ‘call’ was the instrument that later saw Brian answer ‘yes’ to God to pioneer Christian higher education in Australia. We here at CHC are the beneficiaries of that obedience.
Brian reflected on the way God, by divine appointment, had directed the church board’s path in the acquisition of land at Wecker road and how He had made a way for them in the face of many challenges and obstacles in the early days of the school. ‘The school,’ he added, ‘was here because God called it into being – and its heartbeat bears the imprint of the Holy Spirit.’
The challenge he concluded was to be ‘faithful custodian of the gift of God and of a multi-generational heritage.’ A challenge we all have in the gifting and callings of God.
