Duration 
Commencing The Graduate Certificate in Social Science Leadership is a one-year course, and is available on a part time basis.
The Graduate Certificate in Social Science Leadership is designed to facilitate the acquisition of advanced knowledge and skills related to a specific field of social sciences practice, as well as critical thinking and reflection, and incorporates a strong leadership focus with a theoretical understanding of contextual social sciences engagement and Christian worldview integration. The course is therefore intended for those who already possess a foundational understanding of the social sciences or are interested in up-skilling as they are promoted into leadership positions within the social sciences.
Students will be able to undertake focussed study in a specific social sciences discipline that address four key areas:
- Leadership theory
- Leadership practice
- Engagement with current and emerging leadership issues
- Reflective practice
- Elective practice.
Students will focus on leadership within the social sciences discipline by engaging in learning in core approaches and frameworks that are to be contextually applied via focussed assessment.
In addition, the Graduate Certificate in Social Science Leadership is designed to provide opportunity to focus on, evaluate and critically integrate knowledge and skills from the perspective of a Christian worldview. As a faith-based higher education provider, CHC aims to provide quality educational experiences for professionals in order that they may contribute meaningfully to their professions in applied social science areas, and to society more generally, in ways that authentically reflect values and tenets of the Christian faith.
Students who successfully complete the Graduate Certificate in Social Science Leadership may articulate into the Master of Social Science Leadership (SS54). Students who are enrolled in the Master of Social Science Leadership may exit with the Graduate Certificate in Social Science Leadership (subject to the completion of course rules).
Admission Criteria
COURSE ADMISSION CRITERIA
I am an applicant with:
RECENT SECONDARY EDUCATION
Applicants who have completed secondary education in the last two years and who are aged 17 years or over, are eligible for admission to this course.
VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING (VET) STUDY
Applicants with vocational education and training (VET) study of at least a completed Certificate III (with a GPA of at least 4.0, where applicable) and who are aged 17 years or over, are eligible for admission to this course.
HIGHER EDUCATION STUDY
Applicants with completed higher education study, and applicants with higher education study of at least one semester (full-time equivalent) who wish to transfer to or within CHC, are eligible for admission to this course.
WORK AND LIFE EXPERIENCE
Applicants with work and life experience who demonstrate readiness for higher education, including successful completion of the Special Tertiary Admission Test (STAT), are eligible for admission to this course.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
Applicants for whom English is not their first language must provide certified documentary evidence that the language of instruction of their undergraduate degree was English or they have satisfactory results in an acceptable English Language Proficiency examination (see table below). Results are to be no more than two years old as at the commencement of the course of study.

Diploma of Social Science
The Diploma of Social Science consists of 8 core units – 2 Christian Studies units and 6 Professional Studies units.

CHC has a number of scholarships available in particular course areas to help students who are coming to CHC as school-leavers.
