Bio

Herbie is the Social Sciences Human Services Course Coordinator, currently undertaking her candidature (Doctor of Philosophy) at the University of New England, NSW. She has a Masters degree in Counselling (Monash University, 2018), Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) (Griffith University, 2000), and Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) (University of Queensland, 1999).

Herbie is a member of the Brain Behaviour Research Group at the University of New England (UNE) investigating the physical and mental health effects of housing homeless people. She has a particular interest in homelessness and mental health, and is passionate about serving the poor, lowly, and disadvantaged. A member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA), Herbie has over 25 years of experience providing professional and pastoral counselling in Australia and abroad. When she’s not at her desk, you’ll find her enjoying the great outdoors or simply relaxing and having special time with family and friends.

Personal Testimony:

After giving her life to Christ in 2002, Herbie ventured off to the USA and in 2006, was called to missionary work in Khartoum, Sudan. In 2014, she joined the persecuted church she had been counselling for years, and after a short stay in Ethiopia, she relocated with her family to Armidale, NSW, where she became involved in ministry. Her greatest passion in life is to follow Jesus, and to teach, inspire, and help others in the same.
