Hebaat (Herbie) Onapa is the School of Social Sciences Course Coordinator and Lecturer in Counselling and Human Services. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (University of New England, 2025), a Master’s in Counselling (Monash University, 2018), a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) (Griffith University, 2000), and a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) (University of Queensland, 1999). Beyond academia, Herbie has served in mission work across the USA, Sudan, and Ethiopia, advocating for the vulnerable, particularly women and children. Her lived experiences shape her mentorship, equipping students with practical insight and empathy. Known for her passion, encouragement, and bright smile, she fosters a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment that inspires future professionals. Outside of work, she enjoys the great outdoors and cherishing time with family and friends.
