Bio

Kenneth Crowther is the founding principal of a classical school starting in 2026, St John Henry Newman College, and has been teaching in the secondary and tertiary sectors for 15 years.
He holds an Arts and Education Bachelor’s degree, a Master of Arts in Creative Writing, a Master of Arts in Early Modern Literature and is about to complete a PhD in Early Modern Literature and Culture.

Research Interests

His research interests are represented by his thesis titles:

  • Masters: ‘Shakespeare’s Sloth: Acedia as demonic humoralism in ‘Macbeth’, ‘King Lear’, and ‘Timon of Athens’.
  • Doctorate: ‘Disenchanted Paradoxes: Syncretising Meteorology, Demonology and Humoralism on the Early Modern English Stage’.He also researches correlations between medieval philosophical innovations and Christian Platonism, as well as classical and liberal arts education particularly in the work of C.S. Lewis, Jacques Maritain and John Henry Newman.He hosts a podcast about classical education in Australia (Educating Humans), and another about the history of ideas (Chiron).
