Bio
I started my professional life as a high school teacher, teaching Technology & Design (Manual Arts), as well as PE in a boy’s school. After teaching 7 years, I spent 6 years in ministry with Scripture Union as a Youth Worker, working in 38 high schools across Logan City and the southern suburbs of Brisbane as well as overseeing the High school camping program. Once I completed post-graduate studies, I moved into the counselling field in 1994.
Since that time I have worked in a variety of roles including School Counsellor, Counsellor/Advisory Visiting Teacher with the first behaviour management team within Education Queensland, working with behaviourally disturbed children. As well a lecturing at CHC.
In 1999 I shifted my focus to developing my private practice with a specific focus on personal and relational growth. In 2000 I commenced hosting ‘Talking Life’ a weekly life issues, talk back radio program on Family Radio – Brisbane 96five, which I hosted for sixteen and half years and almost seven hundred programs.
For the past twenty-five years I have presented relationships and sexuality programs within schools under the title of Smart Relationships Education. I regularly present at conferences, professional development training, seminars and workshops. I have been interested in neuroscience for a decade after encountering Norman Doidge’s landmark work ‘The Brain That Changes Itself’.
